Edward Robitaille, Jr.

Edward Robitaille, Jr.

While browsing another website I found a notice of Ed’s passing. There was no obituary but it did give the date which was November 28, 2014. He had joined our website but was unable to attend the reunion because of health issues.

Ed and I shared a week of camping in Baxter State Park in Maine in the Summer before our Sophomore year. The group also included Ed’s father, Doug Joseph and his father, John Traill (brother of Peter Traill who was in our class at some point ), and Steve Winters (brother of Ralph Winters who was also in our class for a while). The highlight of the trip was climbing Mount Katahdin at 5267 feet. I’ve always remembered this as an accomplishment all of us were proud of through the years. Rest in peace my friend.

I remember playing chess, or swapping views on a variety subjects, or discerning how something worked in our courses - usually science. For one of the least voluble people that I knew, he sure had a lot to say.

We remember how people made us feel. I gratefully and humorously recall Ed.

May you go with God, Ed.  I only found the posting about you today and it makes me sad you've been gone all this time and I/we never knew.  You were a good friend.

From the 2019 annual report from the town of Compton, New Hampshire:

Donna Lee Robitaille, fondly known as ‘De’, was born on September 23, 1949 in Springfield, MA. De was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. De married Edward Robitaille in June of 1978, and they moved to Campton where they raised a son and three daughters. De was an advocate for disabled children and founded several parent-teacher groups in Campton and Tamworth. She was a member of the Lioness Club where she won a National Disabilities Achievement award. De’s love of gardening led her to become a member of the Campton Garden Club where she held the roles as Vice President and then President for 6 years. De, with a number of other Campton Garden Club members, volunteered hundreds of hours with planning, planting and maintaining a number of gardens and decorative barrels bringing beautification to Campton’s landscape. On August 30, 2018, the Garden Club held a celebration for De in unveiling the new pollinator perennial garden at the Campton Dam. The garden was dedicated to De in recognition of her many years of devotion to beautify Campton and is known as ‘De’s Garden.’ At the ceremony, De stated that she will be watching her garden from “above”. * On October 10, 2018, De passed away peacefully at her home on Alden Drive surrounded by her family.
